What is the difference between anchor bolts and foundation bolts?
Anchor bolts are used to secure objects to concrete, brick or plaster. There are different types of bolts for specific applications. Some are used while the concrete is still wet, while others are used after the concrete has set. The size of the bolt will determine whether the object is properly secured in place. Some will bend with a hook at the end. The object must be large enough. Also, you need to fix them properly nearby, otherwise they will damage the walls.
To install anchor bolts, drill holes where the bolts are to be inserted. Make sure the hole is cleaned before placing the bolt into the hole. You can use a hammer to strike the bolt until it enters the hole, and then tighten it.
Anchor bolts will hold the post in place and stabilize it to prevent uplift from wind or earthquake. Common bolt types include:
Drill bolts: used after the concrete has set. Their use is not very common.
Cast-in-place bolts: Cast-in-place bolts are used for wet concrete. They can be bolts or hook rods. The hook rod is a type of anchor bolt used for axial loading of the substrate. Cast-in-place bolts are the strongest, but can be somewhat difficult to use. Common applications include heavy machines that are mounted on concrete and attach foundations to the walls of buildings.
There is no standard definition of the term "foundation bolt". The bolts that are usually fixed to the foundation steel structure are called "foundation bolts". Other terms are "foundation screw", "anchor screw", etc.
Anchor bolts are fasteners used to attach objects or structures to concrete. There are many types of anchor bolts, and most of their designs are proprietary to the manufacturing company. All consist of a threaded end to which nuts and washers can be attached to withstand external loads.
[1] Anchor bolts are widely used in all types of projects, from standard construction to DAMS and nuclear power plants.
[2] When used with structural steel elements, they can also be used to securely attach embedded slabs to concrete foundations
